"Aspire" is a personable, athletic filly with a great foundation in natural horsemanship.  Lots of ground work, saddling, bridling, and been sat on a few times.  She's easy to handle, good with flagging/tarps, light on the halter, good feel, respectful of your space, tries to please.  On-line: changes of direction, figure 8's, transitions among gaits, side passes, some driving, beginning spins and bowing.  Liberty: good draw, some change of direction, side pass, beginning spins, backs by her tail.  Yields well to a feel.  Most Level Two ground skills of Parelli.  Can fill out a levels chart and email.

Very correct conformation, clean legs, sound, UTD on everything, nice bare feet.  Easy keeper, gets along well with other horses, goats, dogs.

This girl has the potential to excel in a variety of disciplines with her versatile pedigree, willing nature, and athletic abilities.  Light on her feet, quick, sharp over jumps, and shows an interest in cows.

Videos

I got some short clips of Aspire and I playing around today that I thought I'd throw up here.  It's been about a month since I've had anytime to mess with her and she did wonderful for all that time off! Also sticked her at 14.2h today! :)

Sitting on the fence while putting a leg over her.

Sitting on the fence to sitting on her, maybe 3rd time.

Flagging from the fence for the first time.

Trot, bring back, haltering

Bring back, then boyfriend gets distracted by a semi :)

Squeeze game, had trouble with the wait on this one. Kept wanting to come in!

First Saddling & New Friends

7/9 Saddled w/o Cinch at the end of play time.
Friday was the first day I got her cinched up and she did great.  We played on the ground and warmed up, did some saddling without the cinch, just lots of on and off, letting it fall, etc.  When I did cinch her up it was no big deal at all, we've done lots of girthing simulations so she was already used to that tightening feeling.  She did great walking out on a circle with the saddle and eventually I asked her to move up into a trot.  She got about a half a lap before bucking and leaping like a bronc.  I helped her come back down and calm herself by disengaging her the best I could and yo-yo-ing her backwards from me, then resent her.  We did get some good trot after that without issue, some changes of direction, and transitions.  The canter definitely prompts her to buck, and hard! I let her canter a few strides and break into a trot and called it good.  She was really quiet for unsaddling and didn't seem that bothered by the whole process.  I'm interested to see how she does for round two and hopefully can have someone document it with photos.  I need to process a bit more and hopefully will have better detail to share on this first saddling experience later!

Bumped her Shoulder...

On July 4th while I was at work someone said they saw Aspire limping from the highway as they drove past her pasture.  I got someone to go out and look at her and said it looked like her shoulder was a bit stiff.  I couldn't make it out to see her until the following morning and by then, and up until today, she hasn't been lame on it, just stiff.  Got her trotting in the round corral last night to see how she looked... no lameness just a little tight.  I have no idea how she could have hurt herself, in the time frame between when I saw her last and the time the person saw her from the highway she had two hours in a corral to cause an injury.  There aren't any abrasions or anything so anyone's guess is as good as mine.  She could have tweaked it while pacing the fence or maybe fell if she got to running around in there.  Regardless, glad she's ok! :)

First Day Out

I turned Aspire out in one of the pastures for the first time since she's been at Ginny's.  I think she'll really like it and hopefully it will alleviate some of her tension.  She's been pacing the fence every time the other horses go out of her sight, even if they're in the next corral over but around the corner... I don't like to see her stressed and worried about being alone, but hopefully it will be a good experience overall for her if she can figure out she won't die each time the other horses are gone.

Here are some photos of her in the field.  She barely got through the gate before diving into the grass :)
